What we do
Effective Emergency Procedures
When things go wrong, people may be exposed to serious and immediate danger. Effective arrangements for raising the alarm and carrying our rescue operations in an emergency are essential.
Contingency plans will depend on the nature of the confined space, the risks identified and the likely nature of the emergency rescue.
Areas to consider include:
Raising the alarm and communications You must consider how an emergency within the confined could be communicated to the people outside. Often works take place at night or weekends, so you need to ensure this is covered at all times even when the premises are closed.
Guardian provides staff whose sole purpose is to monitor the work in the confined space and to raise the alarm should a problem occur.
Capabilities of rescuers and equipment When an emergency happens in a confined space, there are often instances where the rescuers have also been injured. You will need to provide suitable rescue and resuscitation equipment and a team of trained and able people.
This is a very specialist area and Guardian, working with a third party, can provide full rescue services from specialists in confined space rescue.
